What To Do When Hiring A Web Designer

A making your own web design is somewhat like fixing your car yourself. You will have to buy new parts, you will do some “fixing”, you have lost a lot of time and still spend money on it at the end you will never again be able to rely on it like you have in the past. So the best action is to get a person who does that for a living. It is the same with web design, if you really like to be as professionally represented by the web page as (I guess) you business is you should find a web designer.

Chicago Web designers are easy to come by, one google away you can find hundreds of them. The point is to find the one right for you and spend less. If you are searching for a full time web developer for let us say client-side development he should skilled in HTML the most, but other skills are not needed much. Of course diverse designer is a plus but more skilled one will cost more and you may never use his other skills. Some photoshop skills or illustrator if you need a logo also are needed. So do extensive research and ask yourself what will you be needing, before doing the interviews.

When making the web page try to see if the web designer uses heavy graphics. This is not wanted because the site will be sluggish, amateur looking and frustrating for those clients with slower connections.  Also flash multimedia is a questionable subject, usually is not needed, an amateur web designer may make a common error in putting (usually) your logo tossing around your webpage that needs preloading and cost you loosing impatient customers. Study shows that more than 90% of people click on skip intro button when it is available. So if you see this on your web page try finding a new web designer.

Hire a web designer

Your business has developed to that point in time that you simply cannot do anything more without a web page. It is great way for people to see you are out there expanding your client list, and earning more income by the way. Some time ago, to make a web page you would need to know to program HTML, today is quite simpler with all those programs that are available. You can get a perfect looking design in a few hours work.  Does this mean that all the web designers will lose their jobs? Of course not, because if you do your webpage yourself you only apply given style from a given program if your business depends more on web availability you will do no wrong if you hire a web designer. On the other side if you do the site yourself you are wasting time and the final product is not guaranteed to run as well as you intended and end up getting professional help and having lost time and clients because of the poor, amateur looking web design.

So, how should you hire a Chicago web designer? Well recommendations cannot hurt, see if a friend or other business owner has something to tell you, prior experience is trait that is most beneficial. When you have made your choice don’t forget to ask the designer some basic questions like, how long will it take, what will you need to provide and all about the cost, will you get tech support from him and will he host the cite and again how much will that cost?

Having this done you are free to spend your time more constructively instead of wasting time building your webpage. You will get more professional look, you won’t have to worry about design styles and prioritizing information and let go for a price that you will probably earn from the new clients several times over.

Chicago Web design styles

We are all witness of the constant growing number of web pages. Today the number of pages is so high that common design styles are being overused. But after all with a trillion unique URLs it is impossible to make a unique looking design. Everything is done previously, you cannot invent much on the given page space so today designers are focusing on bettering the content of the page instead of the design. Mainly three types of web pages designs are present. The left oriented pages, having the content displayed starting from a left alignment line, the center oriented pages mostly used on blogs where the main text is in the middle and the full width pages giving the main content of the page on the top of the page reducing the need for scrolling down.

Web designers today are trying to make web pages simpler. Having in mind that “less is more” today the common design is with softer and simpler colors, less boxed in look and with strong colors only on the parts that need to draw attention. This way the emphasis is on the content of the page and not on the design itself. Other standards used regularly are the so called web 2.0 standards. A term that met the eye in 2004, this is not a completely different web standard but a modification giving the end user more active role on the web page. Web 2.0 is making the web pages into a  collaborative medium a place where you can meet other users and writhe on the pages instead of only reading. This standard was the boom of the social networks sites, video sharing sites, blogs and many other interactive sites. Web 2.0 is the reason we now have Wikipedia as one of the first visited sites when searching for some information.

I would recommend that you find your own Chicago web design specialist to help you!
